Over three days, you will stand in the shadow of Mt. Kilimanjaro, hike the lush foothills of Marangu to chase waterfalls, plunge into the crystal-clear oasis of Chemka (Kikuletwa) Hot Springs, and shop for authentic African art at the Arusha Cultural Heritage Centre. Essential Travel Requirements for Kenyans

Day 1: Nairobi to Moshi – The Journey Begins

Depart Nairobi early via the Loitokitok border post. Enjoy the scenic drive in the overland truck with live music on board. Arrive in Moshi for a city tour and check into your accommodation

Day 2: Marangu Waterfalls & Kikuletwa Hot Springs

After breakfast, head to Marangu for a hike to the stunning waterfalls. Later, drive to Kikuletwa (Chemka) Hot Springs for an afternoon of swimming in natural geothermal pools. Transfer to Arusha for overnight stay.

Day 3: Arusha City Tour & Return to Nairobi

Explore Arusha City and visit the Cultural Heritage Centre for souvenirs and art. Begin the journey back through Namanga border post to Nairobi, arriving in the late evening.

What documents do I need for the border crossing?

You will need a valid Passport or Temporary Permit. Kenyan citizens must have an original ID. A valid Yellow Fever certificate is mandatory for entry into Tanzania.

Is the water at Kikuletwa Hot Springs actually hot?

Despite the name, the water is lukewarm/room temperature—perfect for a refreshing swim in the tropical heat.

What should I pack?

Pack comfortable hiking shoes for Marangu, swimwear for the hot springs, light clothing for the day, and a warm jacket for the evening. Don’t forget your camera and power bank!
