The adventure then moves to the water. A private speed boat whisk you away across the expansive Lake Victoria to Takawiri Island Victoria Sands Lodge. Famous for its rare white sandy beaches and palm trees, Takawiri feels more like the Indian Ocean than a freshwater lake. Here, you will enjoy two nights of total seclusion on a full-board basis. Whether you want to try your hand at sport fishing, kayak through the reeds, or simply watch the dhows go by, this is Western Kenya’s ultimate hidden gem.

Day 1: Arrival & The Legend of Kit Mikayi
Fly into Kisumu and transfer to Acacia Premier. Head out to visit Kit Mikayi to hear the local folklore followed by a visit to the Impala Sanctuary. Evening at leisure at the Acacia Rooftop.
Day 2: The Speed Boat Crossing
After breakfast, transfer to the pier for a scenic speed boat ride to Takawiri Island. Arrive in time for a fresh tilapia lunch and a relaxed afternoon on the white sand beach.
Day 3: Island Life
A full day on the island. Choose from optional activities like sports fishing, visiting the nearby Bird Island (Mbasa), or exploring the rock art on Mfangano Island.
Day 4: Departure
Enjoy a final island breakfast before taking the speed boat back to the mainland for your return flight to Nairobi.
